FAQs

Web Applications, answered

When does a custom web app make more sense than buying a SaaS product?+

When off-the-shelf tools force you to change your workflow more than you can accept, when integrations between multiple SaaS tools cost more than a single custom platform, or when the process is genuinely core to your competitive advantage. We help clients make that call honestly on the first strategy call.

What is a typical timeline from kick-off to MVP?+

A focused MVP with 3 to 5 core workflows usually ships in 10 to 14 weeks. Full v1 of a production platform with polished UX and full test coverage typically takes 16 to 24 weeks. We ship incrementally, so you see real client-visible progress every week.

Can the app scale to enterprise load later?+

Yes. We architect for horizontal scaling from day one: stateless application servers, connection-pooled databases, Redis for caching and queues, container orchestration on Kubernetes when volume warrants it. Scaling is a config change, not a rewrite.

Who owns the source code and the data?+

You own both. Source code, database schema, infrastructure-as-code, and documentation are handed over on completion. Data lives on infrastructure you control. We keep a support copy of the code only for the duration of your engagement with us.

How do you handle security and compliance?+

RBAC, SSO integration, audit logging, encrypted data at rest and in transit, OWASP Top 10 remediation, and dependency scanning are standard. For regulated industries (fintech, healthtech, education), we add SOC 2, GDPR, PDPL, and HIPAA-aligned controls on request.

Do you handle both design and engineering?+

Yes. Every engagement includes senior UX and product design as part of the pod, not a separate handoff. Design and engineering work together weekly, which is why our builds do not look like typical enterprise software.

Can you migrate our data from existing systems?+

Yes. Data migration from Excel, Access, legacy databases, or old SaaS tools is a common part of the build. We scope migration explicitly in the proposal so there are no surprises.

What about testing?+

Unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests (Playwright or Cypress) are part of every build, not an afterthought. CI runs the suite on every commit before anything reaches production.
